產品介紹This gene is evolutionarily conserved, and its product is proposed to play a role in human cellular senescence and tumor suppression. Antiproliferative activity is reported to be localized to the 3' UTR, which is proposed to function as a trans-acting regulatory RNA. Several pseudogenes of this gene have been identified. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2013]

Function:
Prohibitin inhibits DNA synthesis. It has a role in regulating proliferation. As yet it is unclear if the protein or the mRNA exhibits this effect. May play a role in regulating mitochondrial respiration activity and in aging.

Prohibitin(phb)基因是一種有效的腫瘤抑制基因，廣泛分布于不同種屬的各種生物細胞中，它所編碼的產物Prohibitin(PHB)蛋白結構保守，既存在于線粒體內膜上，發(fā)揮分子伴侶作用，也存在于細胞核內，具有負性轉錄調控作用，因而對細胞代謝、生長、分化、衰老以及凋亡等諸多方面發(fā)揮 著重要的調控作用，可能與某些腫瘤和退行性疾病的發(fā)生有關。
